Broadway Community Emphasis Cost Path

In an effort to address a greater emphasis on the community assets within Vancouver, an analysis was done with a least cost path that had the same assigned land values as the other analysis that had already been done except that instead of counting the number of buffers that our proposed path would go through it was decided that the buffers would be assigned there own values which were lower than any other assigned values. The purpose behind this was for a rapid transit line to increase accessibility and use of community assets within the City of Vancouver. By assigning these buffers with a lower value than any other area it insures that this route will intersect with more community center and library buffers than any other route that has been proposed. This analysis was only done from the Broadway Skytrain station start point because of its busyness and central location in Vancouver. It also falls into the Translink study area and is one of the main start points that Translink has considered for this proposed rapid transit line. The map shows that this route would interact with 7 community centers and 7 libraries. This route, despite favoring the buffered areas, still lies second to the least cost path of the Main Street Skytrain station.
