Uncertainties
Scale
Due to the small scale of the data we acquired and the huge area the pipeline covers, detailed analysis was not possible. The pathways created, at a scale showing the whole map, were six kilometers thick in some places, making a large-scale analysis impossible when we were using small scale data.
Future analyses could include running least cost paths with higher quality data over smaller areas such as near communities or near ecologically sensitive areas
Data Availability
The data for this project came from a variety of sources and, as such, there might have been inconsistencies between data sets. There may have also been loss of accuracy when matching the projections of a variety of data sets and data types.
Cost Value Choices
The values chosen were arbitrary. More research could be done to conclude values which better represent the different attributes' costs in the real world.
Census Division Symbology
The categories' range of values were automatically generated by ArcMap and may not hold any real world significance. Further research could be done to conclude what is a more appropriate measure of low income, high unemployment, or high proportion of aboriginal populations.
GIS Technician Capability
We are still under the process of learning the ins and outs of ArcGIS and this could have led to certain inconsistencies or errors in our data gathering and manipulation
