Welcome to our website that
was
designed for the final project of the Advanced Geographical Information
Science course (GEOB370). The purpose of this final project is to take
the GIS knowledge that we have accumulated from the course and apply it
to a topic that interests us. In this case, we are interested
about how environmental education can be implemented in
children's lives.
GEOB370 is a course that can
be taken
in the University of British Columbia. For more information on this

Abstract
Our
aim is to determine where to establish a summer day camp within the
regions surrounding Chilliwack, BC that would help promote
environmental education. The integration of environmental educationinto daycamp
activities is important because it evolves a child's learning capacity.
The daycamp would enable children to apply the knowledge that they have
learned from textbooks to the environment through fun activities. In
this way, children are most likely to retain most of the knowledge that
they have learned.
To
determine our location, we did three multi-criteria analysis and even
developed a hiking route for our daycamp. Even with the multi-criteria
analyses we were still left with several potential sites to put our
daycamp. So from the remaining potential sites, we decided on a point
near Harrison Lake because a daycamp near the lake would provide more
activities for the children.
