Wildfire Smoke and Public Health in BC
Spatial Analysis in Exposure Assessment and Health Implications
Future study
The project is the very starting part of a more comprehensive analysis of association between wildfire smoke exposure and public health responses. Future study will be sophisticated in both GIS analysis and statistical methods. Potential further analysis include:- Explore more options of exposure assessment method, including using different interpolation methods such as inverse distance weighting and kriging, to estimate exposure levels in area where there is no monitoring station nearby.
- Use a possion regression, which is more relavant to count data, instead of linear regression.
- Assess excess cases comparing to baseline from pre- or post-wildfire periods as well as average from previous year without fire, in order to truly attribute the excess risk from wildfire exposure.
