The
final
maps show that there is an extensive amount of land highly suitable for
switchgrass crops whether the factors considered are weighed
differently or the same.Considering
slope to be the most important factor did cause the magnitude of areas
to become less suitable but the overall amount of area that was
considered highly suitable is still similar to the all equal map.The most suitable area looks to be near the center of the inset in both the equally and unequally weighted maps.Sources of error:
- Soil
data was from scale of 1:1000000 whereas the DEM and Landcover data
were of 1: 250,000, thus for the soil data to be rasterized to the same
cell size (75m) the data was more generalized than the other two
rasters.
- Since
the landscape and soil data were not continuous data the normalization
of them was subjective and changing the values of their attributes
could impact the overall outcome of the weighted overlay.
