Text Books:

Air pollution Meteorology texts are reasonably expensive and any one text doesn't really capture the flavour I would like to bring to this course.  I therefore propose to provide materials online and on reserve in the Geographic Information Centre (GIC).

        1. Basic texts  on reserve will be:

           a.  Boubel, R.W., Fox, D.L., Bruce Turner, D. and Stern, A.C., 1994.  Fundamentals of air pollution.  Academic Press.
           b.  Pal Arya, S., 1999.  Air pollution meterology and dispersion.  Oxford University Press. (in main library)
           c.  Stull (Chapter )
           d.  Oke Boundary Layer Climates (Chapter )
           e.  Bates and Caton (eds): A Citizens Guide to Air Pollution

        2. You may also find these other texts useful as optional supplementary reading:

           a.  Dobbins, R.A., 1979.  Atmospheric motion and air pollution.  Environmental science and technology.  John Wiley & Sons.
           b.  Elsom, D., 1987.  Atmospheric pollution.
           c.  Lyons,  T. and Scott, B.,  1990.  Principles of air pollution meteorology.  CRC Press.
           d.  Turco, R.P., 1997.  Earth under siege: from air pollution to global change.  Oxford University Press.
           e.  Seinfeld, J.H., 1986.  Atmospheric chemistry and physics of air pollution.  John Wiley & Sons.

        3. Journal literature:  there is rich journal literature dealing with the air quality of the Lower Fraser Valley as well as other topics (e.g. long range transport).  I have provided two extended bibliographies on these topics and encourage you to delve into this literature.

         Lower Fraser Valley
         Long Range Transport
