Teaching Spatial Concepts to Children

In both of the readings for this week, the authors discuss the need for better education in spatial literacy. In one paragraph summarize these articles, pointing to their similarities, and differences.

In a second paragraph, come up with one activity or lesson plan that could be used to teach one aspect of spatial literacy to elementary school aged children. Specify the goal of the activity, the grade level, how you would plan the activity (you can use bullet points here) and whether the activity could be co-curricular - meaning, can it also be part of another curriculum (math, social studies, physical education, music).
