The Population Data BC Best Practices for Mapping Health Data web content describes confidentiality issues associated with mapping point data about individuals and suggests some approaches to protecting individual privacy. Describe these approaches and suggest when they might be used.

Think about these principles in relation to John Snow's 1854 Broad St cholera map. Could individuals have been identified from his map? Could Snow have made his map today?  If he did, who would he have been able to share it with? What methods for preserving confidentiality of individual data would you follow today if you were mapping similar data to what John Snow mapped?
