In this project, we have learnt that...

... although walkability indices have been calculated for many cities before and some parts of our project had an imititating character, the implementation of some analysis steps in GIS can turn out to be rather difficult. Even with good skills in handling the ArcGis software package, we experienced that there are steps that, even though they are described in only one or two sentences in scientific papers, take up hours or even days to implement successfully.

... it is necessary to keep cool even if ArcGis decides three times a day to run out of memory
