Located in British Columbia, Canada; the coastal city of Vancouver is the third largest in the country. Statistics Canada reports the Chinese community to be the 5th largest of any ethnic origin in Canada, and the largest group of non European ethnic origin.  According to the 2006 census, the population of Vancouver was 578,041; of which 30 % were of Chinese heritage. Furthermore, the housing sales data available pertained only to the City of Vancouver, and as such the study was restricted to this region.
