“The manner in which public transit is supplied, managed and operated will have an important and lasting impact on the social, economic and environmental well being of the city-region.”
John F. Meligrana in “Toward Regional Transportation Governance: A Case Study of Greater Vancouver”
The purpose of our study is to analyze the accessibility of transit services within the city of Vancouver. As the first part of our analysis, we looked at three components laid out in the LITA: capacity, frequency, and service coverage to determine an overall accessibility rating for each dissemination area. Secondly, we examined the rating of each dissemination area for different time periods, as determined by Translink’s service schedule. Finally we statistically evaluated the data to determine if there were any common factors to good or poor quality transit accessibility.
