As described on the course outline, a final essay/project of 15-20 typed pages (exclusive of figures) will complete the formal requirements for this course. The essay/project may include some practical work (i.e., GIS-based analyses) but need not, and will most likely be related to your thesis topic. If the project is to be based on the results of GIS analyses, the length criteria still remains (I assume that you'll have to discuss the methodology used, provide some rationale for the approach taken, etc.). The essay/project must be an original piece of work developed for this course. Students will have access to ArcGIS 9.2.

You should discuss with me your plans for the final project before embarking too far on the work. The deadline for the project will be April 18. Copies of previous assignments are available for referral.
