David Ley has been a Professor in UBC’s Geography Department since 1972. His initial field was urban social geography, but subsequently he has written on issues of geographical method and philosophy, gentrification, international migration, and most recently speculative housing bubbles. He has held a Tier 1 CRC Professorship, been made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, was a Trudeau Fellow, and earlier this year he was awarded to the Jacob Biely Research Prize, UBC’s highest faculty research award.
