“I graduated from NRU HSE (National Research University – Higher School of Economics) in Moscow, Russia, in June 2015 majoring in International Economics. After an alumni of my program spurred my interest in urban studies, I decided to focus on the issues of urbanization and development in my research. I pay special attention to the processes of city growth in Asia and China in particular, since I minored in China’s studies and speak Chinese. Applying knowledge gained through coursework and in three international summer schools, I’ve been working on cities as the topic for my undergrad thesis and subsequently entered the MA in Human Geography at UBC to gain a deeper understanding of urban and economic geography.”
