Bidens amplissima

(Vancouver Island beggarticks)

-Blue-listed, but high priority species in BC.A species with a globally restricted range, found only in BC and adjacent Washington State. This species is found on several Richmond islands, based on UBC Herbarium records:
- the Richmond Nature Park pond, and east ditch, - on the edge of the Garden City Park pond,

- on the dyke just east of Steveston

- in cattail marsh beside the fishing pier west of London Farm.

- Rose Island, west tip

- small tidal islet northwest of Duck Island

- Woodward Island, south side marsh

- the majority of the global populaton of this species in found in southwestern BC.

Carex interrupta

(green-fruited sedge)

- Red-listed; streamsides and wet sites.

- 3.2 km west of New Westminster border, 400 m south of north arm of the Fraser River, Lulu Island  (UBC Herbarium record)

- undoubtedly more populations are present on Lulu Island; further survey is needed.

Elatine rubella

(three-flowered waterwort, southwestern waterwort)

-Blue-listed, an early season emphemeral in muddy shores, shallow vernal pools

- Richmond, 50 m S of Westminster Hwy, 150 m W of Hwy 91 interchange, Lulu Island, also found on Douglas Island, south of Port Coquitlam, in Fraser River. (UBC Herbarium record)

Eleocharis parvula

(small spike-rush)

-Blue-listed coastal species of salt marshes, mudflats and sandy shores in the lowland zone.

- Iona Island, Iona Beach Regional Park, N of sewage lagoons; ca. 600 m S of Vancouver. (UBC Herbarium record)

-This species require further survey throughout Richmond, including the smaller islands of the Fraser.

Elodea nutallii

(Nuttall's waterweed)

-Blue-listed species of lakes, ponds and streams

- Kirkland Island, northwest end (UCB Herbarium record).

-This species require further survey throughout Richmond, including the smaller islands of the Fraser.

Epilobium ciliatum ssp. watsonii (purple-leaved willow-herb)

-Blue-listed species of disturbed places, roadsides, fields, wet places, Lulu Island ( photo).

Juncus oxymeris

(pointed rush, blue pointed rush)

-Blue-listed species of wet meadows and river banks, found along banks of Fraser in several spots, including near Huston Road, outside of dyke, in protected zone, Lulu Island. (UBC Herbarium record).

Lilaea scilloides 

(flowering quillwort)  

-Blue-listed species of mudflats, ponds and wet sites--vernal pools.

-Found in marsh along River Road, Lulu Island (UBC Herbarium record)

Lindernia dubia ssp. anagallidea (false pimpernel) -Blue-listed species of wet, sandy or muddy sites.

Lupinus rivularis

(streambank lupine)

-Red-listed (endangered--COSEWIC) speciesof sandy or gravelly soil on floodplains and riverbanks

- near No. 9 Road on Lulu Island. (UBC Herbarium records).

Myriophyllum ussuriense

(Ussurian water-milfoil) 

-Blue-listed species of ditches and ponds.
