Sources of error
  1. Comparisons should be made between watersheds; one watershed is not representative of the landscape.
  2. The area of riparian zones is unequal due to the variability of stream segment length.   This could under-represent the range of bank elevation and modify results.
  3. Overlapping and discontinuous riparian boundaries mean that some data is missing.
  4. Headwater streams in this landscape are frequently less than 2m wide; most are less than 4m wide.  The elevation values found in the 2m buffer may include cells from outside of the stream.  This would probably increase topographic variability estimates.
