Welcome!
I am a Research Associate of
Dr. Olav Slaymaker,
Professional Geoscientist (P. Geo.) and Professor of Geography at the University
of British Columbia. I complement his research interests in mountain
geomorphology, sediment budgets and debris flow hazards. My primary research
expertise is as a field-based glacial geologist, with particular interests in Quaternary geology and
geomorphology, geochronology, paleoclimatology, paleoenvironmental
reconstructions; glacier and sea-level fluctuations, GIS applications, natural
hazards geomorphology in the Pacific Northwest. I am a registered professional geologist
in the State of Washington with an engineering geology specialty and have
previous experience in teaching, private sector and Federal/Local industries.
My Ph.D. work combined field studies and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
models to united U.S. & Canadian latest Pleistocene geomorphic evidence in the
Fraser Lowland and also adjacent Nooksack River Valley. This involved sediment
coring to obtain limiting radiocarbon dates; stratigraphic correlations; the
establishment of the Holocene eruptive history of Mount Baker, Washington, etc.
We are currently working to improve our understanding of the fundamental
controls (fluvial, glacial and tectonic processes) on the development of the
topography across western Canada by comparing indices of exhumation and
geomorphic and climatic data with digital topographic analysis. By following the links in the menu, you can find more details on:
I am seeking to develop collaborative ties with scientists to explore the geologic record and
environmental impacts of glaciations and volcanic eruptions at various spatial
and temporal scales. Visit my image
