All Darkwoods Stands Stratified
Stratifying all
stands in the darkwoods by aspect and elevation resulted in a total of
1,767 stands (Figure
6). In the "Northeast" aspect class, 367 stands were in the
"High" elevation strata, 555 in the "Mid" elevation strata, and
113 in the "Low" elevation strata. In the "Southwest" aspect
class, 371 stands were within the "High" elevation strata, 353 within
"Mid" and 8 within "Low" (Table
5).
Using the above
criteria, preliminary stand selection resulted in a total of 23 stands (Figure
7). In the "Northeast" aspect class, 13 stands were in the
"High" elevation strata, one (1) in the "Mid" elevation strata, and
zero (0) in the "Low" elevation strata. In the "Southwest" aspect
class, six (6) stands were within the "High" elevation strata, three
(3) within "Mid" and zero (0) within "Low" (Table 6).
